Extending a bold, established visual identity enterprise-wide, evolving the illustration system and initiative marks to meet the growing needs of the organization across every touchpoint.
The Challenge Sage Therapeutics had a strong visual identity, but as the company grew, the brand needed to grow with it. Internal teams needed assets, new initiatives needed their own marks, and company-wide moments needed to feel like they belonged - flexing within the system.
My Role I worked embedded within the internal creative team as a design partner across the organization, building assets for internal stakeholders, extending the illustration system, designing initiative marks, and creating the visual identity for Spark, Sage's company-wide onsite event.
Impact By keeping brand work in-house, our team saved Sage the equivalent of significant agency fees while building the guidelines that enabled every external partner to stay on-brand without additional oversight. Design was protecting brand equity and reducing operational cost across the organization.
Enterprise-Wide Brand Extension Across digital, print, social, and internal communications, every asset needed to reflect Sage's commitment to brain health, visual clarity, and scientific credibility. The challenge was pushing the system into new applications while keeping the integrity of what made it resonate in the first place.
Spark — Company Onsite Sage's all-company event deserved its own moment. I designed Spark's visual language from the ground up, from large-scale banners and signage down to tote bags and t-shirts, creating an environment where the brand felt alive and the mission felt personal.
Initiative Marks Cross-functional programs need something to rally around. I designed a series of custom logo marks for internal initiatives, each one living within Sage's core brand system while giving individual teams their own distinct visual identity.
